ABOUT THE CLASS: This Sweaty Saturday Throw Down will be a HIIT based class with RYU’s three Connectors from the Fhitting Room – expect a fun, challenging and form focused class with this awesome crew!
ABOUT OUR CONNECTORS:
Carlos -A native of Puerto Rico, Carlos grew up in the Bronx as a skinny, awkward kid who was always athletic but never really into sports. During college, while playing flag football, he was recruited to play on a semi-pro football team based in the Bronx and ended up playing defensive back for 3 years. A few years later while attending grad school and starting a family, he discovered personal training and group exercise. Carlos has his Masters in Developmental Psychology and teaches Sports Psychology at Long Island University.
Farouk – After years of high school sports, Farouk found high-intensity interval training as a way to push himself physically and mentally. In 2013, Farouk competed as an alternate on the Reebok CrossFit Games team which finished 5th place in the world. Farouk served as a NYFD firefighter for a brief stint. Now, instead of fighting fires, he’s kicking your butts (with a smile!)
Riley – Riley began dancing at a young age and later went on to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she majored in Dance and minored in Movement Science. After graduating, Riley moved to NYC to pursue a professional dance career. She decided to become a fitness instructor as a means to support herself while auditioning for dance companies. What began as a “side gig” instantly became her biggest passion. Riley loves spending her days connecting with her clients, helping them reach their goals and watching them grow.
